When it comes to hoof care, especially for new mothers, the challenges can multiply. New mares often require specialized attention because of postnatal recovery and hoof issues. Fortunately, solutions like Glushu are rising to meet these needs. Farrier Bart Lambert recently worked with a mare facing hoof complications, and his experience showcases how Glushu can transform care in these complex situations.
From Bart Lambert:
“This is my recent client with a severe case of confinement due to uterine inflammation. This horse is a Mare with a 7 week old foal, so stabilisation is essential.
I have used Glushu on many complex cases and knew this would be a good solution. Here you can see a GluShu application with 12 degree wedge for the deep digital flexor tendon to be relieved. In addition I also employed a wedge during the shredding to get the hoof bone back into a good angle. To complete the job I filled the shoe with Shupack CS to provide counter-pressure.
The X-rays show before and after.
Glad to say we have another happy customer.”
The mare's condition made her an ideal candidate for Glushu. Bart’s familiarity with Glushu in complex cases gave him the confidence needed to apply it effectively. The aim was to reduce pressure on the deep digital flexor tendon, a common issue in these situations, while ensuring correct hoof alignment.
