Farrier Report: Glushu Support for Laminitis

Laminitis is a painful and challenging condition that affects many horses, often requiring careful management and specialised hoof care. The Huf-Reha Team, experienced farriers dedicated to equine rehabilitation, recently shared their insights on using Glushu shoes to support horses suffering from laminitis. Their approach highlights how this innovative shoeing system can play a crucial role in recovery and comfort.

From Huf-Reha Team

“Last week, we once again switched a horse suffering from laminitis from a therapeutic pad setup to GluShu shoes.

Our initial protocol for laminitis involves cooling , rest, soft bedding, pain management, soaking hay/dietary adjustments, and a supportive pad in the rear section of the hoof.

Once the horse is stable (able to lift a hoof without the need for painkillers), X-rays are taken.

Based on the X-rays, we then decide whether hoof protection is appropriate and, if so, which type.

We have used Glushu for many years for laminitis cases and can 100% recomend them.”

The experience shared by the Huf Reha Team shows several advantages of Glushu shoes in laminitis management:
